Frequently asked questions.
What Esploro is, what it is not, and how the value-migration method works — in plain language.
- What is value migration in investing?
- Value migration is the idea that profit steadily flows away from outdated business designs toward the ones the market will pay for next. Named by Adrian Slywotzky in his 1996 book Value Migration, it describes how economic value moves — for example, from a commodity producer that is a price-taker toward a specialty or systems business with pricing power. For an investor, spotting a company early in that migration up the value chain, before the market re-rates it, is the opportunity.
- What does Esploro do?
- Esploro is a long-horizon investment-research and education brand built on one idea: value migrates. We study where profit is moving up the value chain — out of commodities and into pricing power — in public companies, and we trace every observation back to the exact primary-source filing sentence. Today the site publishes methodology and education only. It is not a tip service, a subscription, a stock screener, or a portfolio manager, and it does not rate, rank, or recommend any live stock.
- Does Esploro give stock tips or recommendations?
- No. Esploro does not give stock tips, buy/sell/hold calls, target prices, or recommendations of any kind. We publish a research method and educational writing about value migration — a framework for thinking, not instructions to trade. We do not issue ranked lists of live stocks, model portfolios, or scores attached to any named current company, and we make no performance or return claims. Any company we name is used only to illustrate a concept, never as a call to act on it.
- Is Esploro SEBI-registered?
- No. Esploro is not currently registered with SEBI as a Research Analyst or an Investment Adviser, and nothing on this site is personalized investment advice. We intend to register as a SEBI Research Analyst (registration prefix INH), and to complete the NISM-Series-XV certification, before we publish any company-specific research. Until that registration is granted, this site stays limited to education and methodology. See our registration status for detail.
- What is the Analysis Bridge, and how does your method work?
- The Analysis Bridge is the core of Esploro's method: the synthesis that carries you from public financial data everyone shares to a defensible read on a company's revealed behaviour. Financial ratios are public, lagging, and identical for everyone, so they are table stakes, not an edge. The bridge instead reads what a company actually did — execution on the ground, the say/do gap between management's past words and later actions, patents and partnerships that prove a climb, and governance quality. Our framework weights this revealed behaviour far above the baseline financials, and every observation is traced to a dated primary source. The full walkthrough is on the method page.
- What does "traced to the filing sentence" mean?
- It means every material observation we make is tied to the exact, dated sentence in a primary source where the evidence actually lives — a specific line in a concall transcript, an annual report, or a regulatory filing — not a summary or a secondhand claim. If an observation cannot be traced to such a source, it does not enter the analysis; where a signal is inferred rather than stated, it is flagged as inferred. The point is auditability: a read you can open and verify beats one you have to take on trust.
- Is Esploro suitable for beginners?
- Esploro is written for serious, do-it-yourself investors who already read annual reports and want a sharper lens, but a motivated beginner can learn a great deal from it. The method, field guide, and glossary explain concepts in plain English and are genuinely educational. What Esploro is not is a shortcut: we teach a framework for thinking about value migration, not tips to follow. Beginners should treat everything here as education and consult a SEBI-registered adviser before investing.
- What does Esploro cost?
- Everything published on the site today — the method, the field guide, the essays, the glossary — is free to read, and joining the waitlist is free. We do not currently sell a subscription or any paid research. A paid, registered research service may come later, only after our SEBI Research Analyst registration is granted; if and when it does, its terms and pricing will be stated clearly and separately.
- What markets does Esploro cover?
- The method is market-agnostic, and we are building coverage one market at a time — starting with the United States and India. We are proving it out in the US first: it is the world's reference equity market, its primary data (SEC filings) is open and structured, and impersonal, general-circulation research can be published there without an investment-adviser licence, which lets us start a public, timestamped track record now. India is where the framework was built and pressure-tested; registered research for Indian investors follows SEBI Research Analyst registration. Europe and other markets follow the same rubric with a different universe and filing sources.
- How does Esploro use AI?
- Esploro's research process uses AI agents to read and structure large volumes of primary-source material — regulatory filings, transcripts, and disclosures — at a scale a single analyst could not read by hand. Every material observation is then traced back to a dated primary source and reviewed by a human analyst. AI assists the reading; it does not replace analyst judgment, and this site publishes methodology and education, not automated stock calls. Full detail is in our AI-use disclosure.
- When will the research service launch?
- There is no fixed launch date, and that is deliberate — Esploro is a five-to-ten-year build. Right now we publish the method and the idea. A registered research service comes only after our SEBI Research Analyst registration is granted and a public, timestamped track record exists. Joining the waitlist is the way to be notified when that happens; we send no tips, no spam, and no stock calls in the meantime. Read the method → Join the waitlist
